I love space, and when Mars one was announced I thought it was a crazy idea. Kind of cool in a way, but crazy. A few weeks ago Elon Musk announced plans for trips to Mars ( I wrote this a long time ago). And it was cool. But, I learned something important about myself. As much as I love space, I wouldn't want to be one of the first people on Mars or probably ever. Dying in space would suck. And then I got a product idea. I don't want to be in space. At least not personally, but won't it be cool to control something in space? Now that would be interesting. The idea is a small spacecraft that people rent. They can fly it around, control the camera, etc. All for a very low price.
Another idea is controlling rover's on the moon. Drive them around, it's all good.
Now, there would have to be some restrictions on what the rockets could do. Like flying them into earth could be a problem. Or trying to hit satellites with them. So the spacecraft would have to have measures installed to prevent self destructive behaviors like this.
I think Elon is moving in the wrong direction for another reason. He wants to send people to Mars, when it reality sending robots is a much better idea. Think about it, humans need heat, breathable air, food, radiation resistance, and die so easy. Robots in the other hand really just need power. They are replaceable. And in theory, you may be able to make more of them on site. I think building a sustainable colony for Robots is a better first step
What a great idea!
